Purpose

Since 2006 I have been training and developing professional web designers.  It can be extremely rewarding to see someone start with very little knowledge or skill grow into a talented and sought after professional.  Before that I was a small business owner specializing in developing small business websites.  It suddenly dawned on me that I have the perfect skills, knowledge, and passion for a website that focuses on helping new web designers and developers develop their skills and learn how to grow their careers.

Something I have noticed from 18+ years in the Internet business is that tech people gravitate towards snobbery. There are Linux Nazi’s, Apple Fanboy’s, and any number of niche, cult-like, followers who believe if you are not using their preferred software or following their preferred methods, then you have no business being on the Internet.

I believe that the Internet has plenty of room for everyone, even those who don’t eat, sleep, and breath technology. So I will try my best to avoid the trappings of exclusivity and write from the perspective that there is always a different way to do things, and that is okay.  Of course, no one person can be an expert in all methods, so I will write about what I know, teach the methods that I use, while acknowledging other ways of doing it, and if you don’t like how I do it or want to try something else, I can point you in a direction to find what you are looking for.

Feel free to post any questions or comments anywhere on this site.  I will do my best to answer them in a timely manner.  I am also available for website hosting, design, or consulting.

18 Lesson Course

I’ve also created an 18 lesson course where I pour out the most important lessons I have learned from my first 18 years of web design and development. You can subscribe to the course here.
